Ugh! I’m having a bad ear day! And what does my people-type-dog Mom do? She gets the camera out and takes a picture. Not only is it recorded for generations to come, she puts it on Facebook and Twitter then blogs about it. Now the entire universe knows! What’s a puppy to do? I’m just little, can’t she give me a break? THE Hunter.
I can relate, Hunter. I’m dressed in my Sunday best, every hair in place, age-defying makeup just right. Pretty as a picture… not that I’d expect anyone to get the camera out at that moment. No, they’ll wait until I’m sporting my scrubbies, hair a mess, and age spots exposed… the dots clear from my eyes, and again I’m immortalized on film, well memory card to be tagged on Facebook. Sigh! My grandchildren are going to think their Bee was the Sloppy Queen. Okay, so my Sunday best is usually only on Sundays and maybe an occasional Wednesday. But don’t their cameras work those days?
Oh well, who cares what I look like? Seriously when I’m not writing, I groom dogs. Not a glamorous job by any means. And when I am writing, I’m alone in the house. Who’s going to see me? (Except my kids when they come for a visit and sneak into my office with a camera.) Who really cares about my appearance?
Christian Encouragement
Obviously not my family. They love me to the extent of overlooking the unkempt hair and the age spots. They see “Mom.” And that’s all that matters to them.
God looks at you and me the same way. Our outward appearance doesn’t concern Him so much as our inward wellbeing. Isn’t it nice to know that He cares to the extreme? He doesn’t care if we put every hair in place, but He counts each hair on our heads. He doesn’t care if we wear makeup. He’s delighted to give us life so that we can acquire age spots, wrinkles, and skin tags. He doesn’t care about our clothes. He wants us to be warm and comfortable as long as we dress modestly.
Best of all, He doesn’t need a photograph to remind Him of us. He watches over us continuously!
God’s love abounds toward us. That’s why He gave us quotes of encouragement in the Bible, such as: Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Clutter or Creativity?
A cluttered desk is a sign of genius.
Few quotes of encouragement strike me like this one. I thought it was a sign of laziness or carelessness until I talked with some artists and writers who confirm that it is definitely a sign of creativeness. Seems we creative types neglect filing our work in fear of forgetting it. Not so much that we wouldn’t know where we put it, although for me, that is a possibility; but we fear forgetting about the project altogether as we move on to the next one.
Now that I cleared up that matter, I wonder what it means when the desk spills over into the entire office.
I decided it was time to clean out, shovel out, and throw out. So, I hired an office assistant of the furry, four-legged variety who was willing to work for food. While sorting out my first drawer, I discovered he doubles as a paper shredder. What a bargain!
However, my OA didn’t quite grasp the throw out concept. I put three sheets of paper into the trash bag, and he pulled one out, said he could do better, and demonstrated his shredding skills all over again. It took almost as long to clean up his “help” as it did to sort out my drawer.
I think I’ve created a monster by letting Hunter shred paper yesterday while I sorted out my desk drawer. He just got into my good computer paper. Luckily, I caught him before he transformed into supper shredder.
